FRENCH BULLDOG PUPPIES DUE THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER!!!
As part of a mission statement, we hip screen all of our foundation dogs before breeding. Their Penn Hip scores are posted, the report to confirm no DJD and xrays are available upon request.
Based on first hand experience I am now convinced that anyone who claims they would know if their dogs had any hip problems because they pay close attention to them when they work and play, how they move etc is in denial or has not been fully educated. Only the penn hip/ofa evalutation will tell the bone truth. Both socket structure and DI need to be reviewed and taken into consideration. An evaluation of one or the other by themselves does not give an accurate summary. Be happy to discuss this with anyone who has questions about my point of view as there is a lot of controversy and opinion regarding hip evaluations.

To tell you a little bit about ourselves, I became mesmerized as a teenager, watching a retired Colonel work with his World Titled German Shepherds that he had imported from Germany. He had a dog that was one of five in the world that held the equivalent number and degree of utility titles. His routine used only hand signals and was amazing to watch. I became addicted then, and made my mind up, one day......... 25 years later that one day started becoming a reality. After losing an 11 year old mastiff I had for nine years, I came across an American Bulldog. Just went to the kennel to check them out and do some research. We came home with one-Razz. I have had dogs my whole life and cant imagine not having them around. What they give in exchange for some water, food and a pat on the head is priceless and should never be taken for granted.
With a breeding program in mind, we intend to achieve a well rounded, balanced dog that will be known for their ideal representation of the breed. Our adopted motto and goal as of 2008 is "Big Girls with Great Hips". We are small with no immediate plans to have more than 2 or so litters a year, and presently share our yard and house with 7 dogs. Five American Bulldogs, and two French Bulldogs. Owned by Kim and Michael Wood, we care a great deal about our dogs and the quality of dog we produce, learning as we go, researching constantly. Our foundation dogs come from tight hipped bloodlines for several past generations. I have tried to keep up with the penn hip scores in their pedigrees which is sometimes difficult as the dogs are no longer living or have been through several owners. Our general approach to every day HEALTH ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS
I am a firm believer in using a veterinarian if you dont know what is wrong with your dog, however I also believe in using my own judgement as I know my dogs, and some veterinarians treat "symptoms" as it is less time, trouble and initial expensive for the owners pocket. I believe in trying to treat the cause and have done extensive research in using natural or holistic treatments. They are inexpensive, and easier on the dog. They may take more time and effort, however the results are well worth it. Treating allergy symptoms with prednisone can create a vicious cycle of vet bills and visits. An over abundance of yeast manifests it's self as allergy symptoms. Click for more information on Health Issue Information
Socialization and Temperament is most important, and should not be misconstrued or confused with their dominant and drivey nature. We work hard at socializing them and if you should accept the responsibility of owning an american bulldog mandate that you must be able to devote time and effort to do the same. You wont see any chains or chained dogs here. We share our home with them as we would a family member or guest. Keeping that in mind, an American Bulldog is not for everyone and requires an experienced dog owner. Please research the breed before bringing one to your home. We love this breed and want them to be enjoyed. You must socialize them with people and other dogs, basic obedience and manners is a must. They can also become unmanageable if they are not trained properly. Much like a young child, they must be given rules and expectations or your American Bulldog will be running the show instead of you. NEVER tease an american bulldog or encourage them to snap and growl. If your American Bulldog begins to show any signs of aggression towards people, contact a professional trainer for assistance. It is important to stop any bad habits before they start and the knowledge a training session can provide you is priceless. I dare say it is often the owner that needs the training in order to correct any behavior issues. (Please visit our Tips and Advice section). You will find it was money well spent. Their intelligence, curiosity and desire for human interaction requires lots of toys, stimulation, and playtime. Whether they are to be a Companion, or to compete in Work and Show-requires about the same commitment time wise. A bored American Bulldog can be quite destructive, much along the lines of an unattended child creating havoc to amuse himself. We have replaced Satellite cable and the wiring on several utility trailers as testimony, along with the new edition of electric fence to ward off escapes. Their size and presence is intimidating so I strongly recommend that as an American Bulldog owner you take sufficient measures to ensure they stay within the confines of their own yard. This will keep them safe, and the neighbors happy. Please check back as the website is work in progress and will continue to have new pictures and updates as they become available.
